Super narrow bezels

While the slender bezels surrounding the display melt away, they also make the chassis more compact. Zephyrus S is 19mm narrower than its predecessor despite having the same 15.6” screen size. The smaller footprint fits more comfortably into crowded bags and tight spaces, and it also leaves more room for your mousing hand.

AAS BREATHES DEEPER

Slim chassis leave limited space for airflow, which can compromise performance for marathon gaming sessions, so our innovative Active Aerodynamic System opens a 5mm vent that helps increase airflow by 22%. Dual 12V fans draw cool air in from the expanding intake in the base and from vents perforating the panel above the keyboard. Exhaust is pumped through four outlets in the edges of the chassis, each one shaped to separate warm outflow from the layer of cool air flowing into the AAS.

Comprehensive cooling coverage

Five heatpipes snake beneath the surface to pull heat away from not only the CPU and GPU, but also the circuitry supplying them with power. This design keeps the power components under 80°C, which helps improve long-term reliability. The CPU and GPU connect to both shared and dedicated heatsinks to ensure efficient cooling for any workload.

More ultra-thin fins

Thermal energy is dissipated by four heatsinks in the flanks. Each one is lined with ultra-thin copper fins as slim as 0.1mm, allowing higher density and lower air resistance than typical fins that are twice as thick. There are 250 heatsink fins totaling 110,000mm2 of surface area, and the ones on the sides are angled slightly toward the back to direct warm air away from your mousing hand.

Self-cleaning cooling system

Keeping the heatsinks free of debris is critical to maintaining optimal thermal dissipation, so our engineers designed a special anti-dust tunnel that catches and channels particles outside the chassis to prevent them from collecting on the fins. This self-cleaning system helps ensure consistent cooling performance, which improves long-term stability and reliability.

More blades increase airflow

AeroAccelerator technology maximizes airflow inside the slender chassis. The carefully shaped aluminum intake shrouds use curved edges and raised guides to help the fans draw in more cool air. Once inside, it's blasted toward the heatsinks by liquid-crystal-polymer blades that are 33% thinner than conventional designs. Zephyrus S achieves our highest-ever blade density with 83 per fan, improving airflow by up to 17%.

High-performance 12V fans

The dual fans run on 12V power that lets them spin faster, improving airflow compared to typical 5V fans. They draw air from the expanding AAS intake below and vents perforating the chassis above. Exhaust is pumped through four outlets in the edges of the chassis, each one with a subtle ramp that helps separate warm outflow from the layer of cool air flowing into the AAS.

THE RIGHT MODE FOR THE MOMENT

Gaming laptops are versatile enough to tackle a range of tasks, but requirements vary wildly, so Intelligent Cooling adapts accordingly. It automatically switches between operating modes that optimize performance and acoustics for different games and applications. Turbo mode uses the highest fan speed and clocks to sustain maximum speed, Balanced mode adjusts the clocks and cooling to lower noise levels for gaming, and Silent mode runs even quieter for lighter work and entertainment.

ROG Zephyrus S passes stringent internal quality tests, including surviving multiple drops from a height of 76cm, so it's tough enough to handle day-to-day hazards. It also meets demanding MIL-STD-810G standards for enduring shock, altitude, and extreme environmental conditions that would leave lesser laptops begging for mercy.

Bump and grind

Knocks and bumps are a fact of life on the road, but ROG Zephyrus S shrugs them off with ease. It passes the MIL-STD-810G test for shock bench handling, which requires surviving short falls to a desk in different orientations.

From sweltering to sub-zero

We test ROG laptops in punishing conditions, so you can be confident taking them anywhere. Zephyrus S meets MIL-STD-810G standards for sweltering heat and freezing cold, including baking at high temperatures for three days while running and a full week turned off.

Live the high life

Ultraportable proportions make ROG Zephyrus S perfect for globe-trotting gamers. With the laptop certified to run at a MIL-STD-810G-rated cabin altitude of 15,000ft, you can spend flights gaming or catching up on work. We also pass the non-operational transport test, which calls for a much higher altitude of 40,000ft—nearly 7.6 miles.

Aura Sync beyond the gaming keyboard

The keyboard ensures precise input in the heat of battle, and it's built to last. You can customize the backlight colors and effects to suit your style, and another configurable RGB zone illuminates the AAS intake at the back. Aura Sync harmonizes lighting across compatible ROG mice, headsets, and other peripherals to give your setup a cohesive look.
