If you’ve been wanting to dip your toe into the world of custom-modded mechanical keyboards, but don’t want to start from scratch, the Republic of Gamers has you covered. The new ROG Strix Morph 96 Wireless is a feature-rich gaming keyboard built for modding. Swap in your own switches and keycaps, customize the lighting, and dial in that perfect typing feel all without soldering a single component.

A 96% deck with all the essentials

A good keyboard starts with the right layout, and the ROG Strix Morph 96 Wireless makes no sacrifices. Its 96% form factor gives you all the keys you need, including a number pad, squeezed into a compact chassis. Think of it like a tenkeyless board with a number pad instead of a home row, giving you extra room for your mouse hand.

Its chassis features a beautiful CNC-machined aluminum top cover with a translucent polycarbonate positioning plate under the switches for even illumination. Two light bars along the sides add a bit of extra flair to match perfectly with your gaming setup, especially when coordinated with Aura Sync. Adjustable keyboard feet give you three tilt angles to suit your preference. Choose from two pre-lubed switch options: ultra-smooth and thocky ROG NX Snow V2 linears or the intensely satisfying ROG NX Storm V2 clicky switches. Both use POM/PC housings and a walled stem design for smooth keystrokes that prevent dust intrusion.

But that’s only where the fun begins.

Build your perfect keyboard from the bottom up

While many of our keyboards allow for some level of customization, the Strix Morph 96 Wireless is designed for fast, intuitive assembly and disassembly. The entire chassis can be dismantled from the top down, so you can remove components without having to flip the keyboard over. Want to swap in your own favorite boutique switches, or even assign different switches to different keys? The hot-swap switches and included pullers make it easy. Want to add your own themed keycap set? We included a basic set to keep costs down so you can spend more on the customizations you want to achieve. The top housing also supports different keycap profiles, like shorter Cherry profile keys.

But your options go deeper than that. We used south facing LEDs on the PCB to ensure broad compatibility, with a gasket mount design that also gives a smooth, cushioned typing feel. Silicone layers underneath that absorb vibrations and reduce ping, but if you like, you can remove, add, or adjust the internal dampening mechanisms to suit your tastes.

Customizable extras round out the finishing touches

The Strix Morph 96 Wireless may be built for modding, but it’s far from barebones — it’s still a gaming keyboard at its core, with the features you’d expect from the Republic of Gamers. The multifunction wheel/button on the side allows you to control media playback, adjust volume, or tweak the keyboard lighting at a moment’s notice. You can switch profiles, record macros, and adjust other functions right from the keyboard, too — no software required (though more functions are available in our Gear Link webapp.) Finally, the Strix Morph 96 Wireless features our Speed Tap mode, which automatically releases the previous input as soon as a new key is pressed for instantaneous counter-strafing and aiming in competitive games.
