Axial-tech Upgrades

A Fresh Spin

Bigger and better. Axial-tech fans spin on dual-ball bearings and have been scaled up to propel 23% more air through the card, setting the stage for lower temperatures, less noise, and higher performance.

Reverse Rotation and 0dB Technology

Orchestrated Chill

The two side fans spin counterclockwise to minimize turbulence and maximize air dispersion through the heatsink. All three fans come to a standstill when GPU temps are below 50 Celsius, letting you play less-demanding games or perform light tasks in relative silence. Fans start up again when temps are over 55 C, referencing a speed curve that balances performance and acoustics for work or play.

3.5-slot Design

Through Thick and Fin

The custom sink is generously sized and structured to soak up heat from the GeForce RTX 4080 GPU so that it can be efficiently whisked away by the three Axial-tech fans.

Patented Vapor Chamber

Phase Changer

A vapor chamber featuring milled pathways lets the heatpipes sink in without being pressed flat, allowing heat to be carried more efficiently to the fin stack. In comparison to conventional vapor chamber and heatpipe combos, this potent pairing reduces GPU temperature by up to 5 Celsius when subjected to a 500W thermal load.

Premium Power Delivery

1st Responder

Digital power control, an array of high-current power stages, and a lineup of 15K caps ensure massive reserves to reliably push performance boundaries.

Compact PCB

Packs a Punch

Component and trace layouts have been optimized onto a short PCB to reduce power losses and let heat escape through a massive backplate vent.

Metal Exoskeleton

Ultra-rigid

A high-quality diecast frame, shroud, and backplate tightly brace the PCB and strategically steer airflow.

Go With The Flow

It all comes together to effortlessly drive GeForce RTX 4080 performance to the max.

FanConnect II

Hook up

Two PWM FanConnect headers provide additional DIY flexibility. Chassis fans can be directly attached to the card and tuned with a curve that is based on CPU and GPU temperatures, delivering extra intake or exhaust for demanding 3D tasks.

Reinforcements

Additional Perks

A GPU bracket provides extra stability to the critical connection between die and heat spreader. The rear I/O bracket is made from stainless steel to prevent corrosion in humid climates and provide a more resilient mount. A conveniently placed Dual Bios switch allows quick selection between “performance” and “quiet” speed profiles for the Axial-tech fans.

Power
Sensing

Quick Diagnosis

Know if your PSU is worthy. ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards feature a high-speed circuit that constantly monitors input power from the PSU and utilizes conveniently placed LEDs to indicate voltage regulation issues and cable connection problems.

For specific instructions for connecting this graphics card to your power supply unit, please see the FAQ section.

worth considering

As the fifth RTX 4080 that I have now reviewed, there is no doubt in my mind that the ASUS RTX 4080 ROG Strix is the best of the lot – and by a fair distance.

Cooling performance is the real differentiator when comparing custom cards from AIB partners. With a higher boost clock right out of the box, it’s no surprise that these cards’ GPU chips draw more power than NVIDIA's reference Founders Edition card. It's also no surprise to see the GPU chip on the ROG Strix, with a higher boost clock, drawing the most power out of the three cards.

Technology Award

In terms of performance and features alone, the ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 OC offers the best overall package for us. The cooling is quiet, keeps all components at low temperatures, and those who want to play around with the card a bit will also find more leeway in the power limit via the P-BIOS.

Techpowerup Editor's Choice

The ASUS GeForce RTX 4080 STRIX OC comes overclocked out of the box, to a rated boost clock of 2625 MHz, which is a 120 MHz increase over the NVIDIA FE speeds. This is the fastest factory-overclocked RTX 4080.

We all know the new GeForce RTX 4080 offers a great leap over the GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, but ASUS adds its usual magic touch to the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 OC Edition. Fantastic performance out of the box with 2.9GHz+ boost clocks and overclocking past 3.0GHz isn't hard (but you won't get much more performance).

The ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4080 OC is a high-end graphics card capable of unleashing the full grunt of the GeForce RTX 4080 GPU. It is current-gen 4K gaming ready with enough headroom to spare especially with its Tensor core enhanced features enabled.

Excellent cooling

The GeForce RTX 4080 met our expectations in terms of performance and pleased us with a significantly lower price tag than the GeForce RTX 4090. And the ASUS ROG STRIX Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 OC Edition (ROG-STRIX-RTX4080-O16G-GAMING) model also proved once again that even very powerful graphic cards can be quiet enough

Excellent cooling

Building The ULTIMATE Gaming PC

What is the RTX 4080 worth..!!!!

We're building the ULTIMATE Gaming PC equipped with the latest Intel Core i9 14900K, an ROG RTX 4080 and 32 GB of DDR5 at 8000MHz, all installed in the latest ROG case, the Hyperion!

In this video, I build a SETUP dedicated to eSPORT and competitive gamers with a 540Hz screen, an ROG PC equipped with an RTX 4080 and an i7 14700KF, and low-latency keyboard/mouse peripherals!

There are also a lot of you out there that just want the most high-end, the most RGB, and most over-the-top hardware.

The ROG Strix card is clearly the superior one, combining the best average thermals with the lowest noise levels.

The RTX4080 is finally here! Here's the longest ASMR unboxing of the ROG STRIX RTX 4080 on the internet. Don't quote me, I didn't actually check.

For those who don't wanna splurge on the flagship, the RTX 4080 could be a more reasonable option. But does it justify the 2x price hike over the RTX 3080? P.S.: This ROG Strix OC version is one thicc boi.

If your pockets are deep to shell out $1,000 for a single GPU. You prefer using frame generation, DLSS 3, and ray-tracing, then the RTX 4080 should be a decent pick up for you.

ROG Strix RTX 4080 OC Edition Expensive but good, must be ROG

Those who follow me know that I am a die-hard micro ATX fan, and this video is dedicated to that. The build behind me is atomic cool and beautiful, this is a total white ASUS configuration. ASUS PRIME AP201 is the absolute star of this video, it is very interesting because very few cases of this format come out and this one, while not costing a lot lends itself to builds of a certain level.

My setup is all ASUS ROG and includes a build enclosed in the ROG Hyperion GR701 case, the ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless keyboard, the fantastic ROG Moonstone Ace L glass mat, the lightweight ROG Harpe Ace Aim Lab Edition mouse, the ROG Falchion ace mini keyboard and the Rog Gladius III mouse.

The ROG Hyperion GR701 is the king of PC cases and offers the highest quality in both materials and performance.

Consider ROG STRIX 4080 if you want to keep hot air out of your case, run cold, and be cool and quiet.

If you buy yourself a computer to create content - you hold back, cut content - such a Nvidia video card will be much better.
