[Headset] ROG Kithara FAQ
ROG Kithara gaming headset with ROG-Tuned 100mm HIFIMAN planar magnetic drivers, open-back architecture, full-band MEMS boom microphone, dual 3.5mm input, 4.4mm balanced, 3.5mm, 6.3mm single-ended plugs.
Below are the FAQs for ROG Kithara:
1. The headband slider is loose, how to fix it?
Repair Instruction
1. Tools Required: T7 Screwdriver
2. Tighten carefully: Use the T7 screwdriver to turn the screw clockwise by 1/8 of a turn (45 degrees).
3. After each turn, pull the slider back and forth to check if the resistance has increased.
[!CAUTION] Do not apply excessive force or turn too much at once. Doing so may strip the screw threads.

2. Why can I hear crinkling sound when pressing the earcup?
The crinkling or clicking sound heard when pressing the earcup is a common characteristic of planar magnetic drivers. Because these drivers utilize an ultra-thin, nanoscale diaphragm, sudden changes in air pressure can cause the film to move and produce a slight sound. This is a normal physical occurrence and does not affect the audio quality or lifespan of the headset.
To ensure long-term stability of the diaphragm, please observe the following:
- Wear Gently: Put on or take off your headset with a slow, steady motion to allow air pressure to equalize.
- Avoid Sudden Pressure: Do not "slap" or forcefully compress the earcups. Avoid placing the headphones on a flat surface with the earpads facing down, as sudden air pressure spikes can cause permanent physical deformation to the delicate diaphragm.
3. How can I reduce popping sounds and heavy nasal tone of microphone?
The Kithara features a high-sensitivity, studio-grade MEMS microphone. As a passive headset designed for raw audio fidelity (without EQ adjustment and noise cancelling algorithms), it is highly responsive to vocal nuances. This may result in sharper breath sounds or "popping" if the mic is placed directly in front of the mouth.
To reduce popping sound and nasal tone, we advise to position the boom mic—with pop filter installed—to the side of mouth (5-10 cm depends on your volume) to avoid direct airflow.
4. Can I use the third-party audio cable to connect ROG Kithara with devices?
Yes, The ROG Kithara features universal dual 3.5 mm female ports, compatible with most aftermarket upgrade cables on the market. Whether you prefer silver-plated or OCC copper cables, your sound signature is entirely in your hands.
5. Why can’t I adjust volume thru volume bar on Windows when using a USB-C adapter?
Please update USB-C adapter firmware to 4.119.0000-0000.0007 with following tool ROG Kithara USB Audio FW Update Tool_V7.
