Hey mates!
Hope you are doing fine.
For a long time I was hearing from people around the internet how you get instant loading times in games when you have SSDs and stuff.
I was doing some tests with RamDisk recently. And here is the thing:
I don't get impressive results at all. I mean... I don't get ANY results.
Am I doing something wrong?
Tests were done in Skyrim.
Everything (OS and Games) is running on single WD Black 1TB 7200rpm hdd.
http://www.wdc.com/global/products/specs/?driveID=792&language=1I don't have any problems with loading times on hdd. Usually it takes 8-12 seconds to load the game.
But running it from RamDisk gave me absolutely the identical results.
Here is what I did:
1. Installed ImDisk and created 16Gb ramdisk partition.
2. Created Steam library on it.
3. Installed Skyrim onto ram disk.
4. No profit?
Why is that?
