Nvidia optimus and the G750 range?

Hi Guys

Was thinking of getting an asus rog g750 range when the first model came out with the gtx770mx . It did NOT have NVidia optimus when it first came out. Yaayyyy! However, the second iteration of the series with the gtx8xxm series had NVidia optimus.. personally went to the stores to check .. However, it seems not every gtx8xxm comes with NVidia optimus. I did see some display models comig with gtx8xxm with purely NVidia graphics and the intel disabled.

I am kinda confused here.. so , which models will NOT have NVidia optimus ? yes I know it's supposedly a "battery saving " feature.. my arse , it sucked more battery and crashed more games than I could think off. and, It's horrible on Linux too.. Linux user here.. will occasionally dual boot between windows and Linux.

fplolz, all the 8xx GPU's G750's have Optimus, all of them G750JM/JS/JZ 😞

The 7xx GPU G750's came without Optimus, the G750JW/JX/JH

The new G750JY with a 980m is also Optimus.

The G751JY/JT 980m/970m don't have Optimus 🙂

The G751JM has Optimus 😞

Have fun 🙂

Hahahhaa i second that. It's great on paper..but horrible in real life. At this rate, an AMD apu gpu combo would be better.. their
crossfire world relatively seamlessly.
@hmscott: thanks for clarifying my doubts..i feel slightly more confident in purchasing it now  hahaha g751jy or jt it is then

I've got a solution getting the Optimus technology to work correctly. Instruction based on my G750JM with GTX860M:

1. get rid of Intel and Nvidia graphics drivers width Display Driver Uninstaler (in safe mode)

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

2. download latest Intel GPU drivers for HD 4600 and install it

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=4th+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+...

3. reboot
4. download latest Nvidia drivers for GTX 860M and install it

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/85819/en-us

4. reboot and have fun!!! 🙂

Thank you so very much sir!
Took me a good week of googling to find this post, I'm bookmarking it now.

I've been seriously frustrated trying to get my G551JM (i7-4710HQ & GTX 860M) to output video at RGB full range through HDMI to a computer screen and this did the trick (it finally recognized my screen was capable of it once I updated the driver.)

It's really frustrating not being able to easily update the Intel HD Graphics driver on this Optimus setup...

Also, I tried downloading the driver and installing it manually but it didn't work, it was through the Intel Driver Update Utility that it worked (it wouldn't before I uninstalled the driver installed by Asus.)
