I found the subject text within the Storage section of the Maximus Z690 Extreme mobo and have no clue what these feature descriptions are trying to convey? Is DIMM.2 a copy & paste error?


  • DIMM.2_1 slot (Key M) via ROG DIMM.2, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 (supports PCIe 4.0 x4 mode)
  • DIMM.2_2 slot (Key M) via ROG DIMM.2, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 (supports PCIe 4.0 x4 mode)

If you use the provided DIMM.2 rather than leaving the DIMM.2 slot empty, you obtain two more NVME slots - named DIMM.2_1 and DIMM.2_1, both of which are PCIE4 @ x4 capable.
