Going Away 4 A While Learning MAYA and Unreal Engine

Techinstein
Level 9
Hey guys it's Techinstein here and I am going to a camp for two weeks to learn MAYA and Unreal Engine. So I might not be online for a while. Question for MAYA and Unreal Engine: can you purchase these programs for a decent amount of money? Or are they only buisness related?

Is the G75VW ok in warm places? Such as house warmth? If anyone wants to contact me just go to my profile and leave memessages and I well be back in a couple of weeks.

I am also sorry if this is considered SPAM or what not I am not of knowing of what SPAM means.

Maya you can get for free on an auto-desk student license (I believe it renders a watermark, so I suggest exporting to blender to render or using a plugin :P)
Unreal is free for non-commercial uses, you can download it from their homepage.

G75VW will be fine in warm places. Where I live it can get to 50C, and the RoG lives on. Since it is made to operate comfortably at 70 or 80 degrees even, then a bit of a warm house won't be a problem for it.

Sounds like an awesome camp, good luck!

Student version of maya doesn't render watermark anymore. the only limitation is, everytime if you save your document, it gives a message "maya student version is used to create this file...". Other than that there is no limitation for the functionality. Student license expires in 3 years, after that it must be renewed, or it will expire.
Unity free has some limitations, some functions of pro version aren't available in the free version, the comparison between free and pro version can be found in their website

Spam is very different. It comes from those guys who say..."Selling credit card#'s...buy iPads cheap!" Their posts get deleted and IP banned, others who say, "Anyone want to buy my G73" get a warning. The mods around here are awesome, they (and we) can tell the innocent from the guilty. No worries there! 🙂
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

Nice! Did they teach you Unreal script stuff, or just the graphics side of things?

Graphic side of things.

And not the Unreal script stuff. We learned how to make props and characters using MAYA, texturing with Photoshop, and Rendering with Roadkill. We also learned how to put our props buildings into Unreal Engine, we used the Unreal Development Kit a free program. And if you want to do this stuff the summer camp is at DMA (Digital Media Academy) in San Diego. They have classes sutch as learning JAVA, C++, Unity, Movie Making and lot more. It is a really good program in my opinion.

Sounds like a lot of fun! I enjoy programming more than art though, but still, there aren't enough artists in the FLOSS game development world. Maybe you could volunteer? Some of the FLOSS gaming projects would love to have you...Battle for Wesnoth got its musical score from professional composer Timothy Pinkham.
