HDD soft clicking sounds

Hey guys

just bought my 750jx and last night during total silence i noticed this small clicking noise coming from the hdd (i think).
i matched the sounds with hdd activity using performance tab, task manager.

is this normal? only happens when there's activity and immediately stops. that's what causes the clicking sound. each bump is in sync with those clicks

It's a power saving measure. After a short period of inactivity, the hard drive will park its head and spin down the platter. The click you hear is the latch that prevents the head from moving around when parked.

This can be turned off with something like QuietHDD (https://sites.google.com/site/quiethdd/). If the noise bothers you or if you plan on running games from the hard drive (it takes time to spin up the platter), I would recommend turning it off. Otherwise, it is safe to leave it on.

thank you
that's all i wanted to hear 🙂
