This is just a basic screenshot from CPUZ and not from a laptop. Stepping/revision depends on what Asus was using at the time your laptop was built. They can have different revisions and what not.

Check Mainboard tab, Southbridge revision number. 04 = C1 stepping = has bug. No way to fix. 05 = C2 = no bug.

villansv, or anyone else out there, have you seen the bug cause a problem?

I haven't had a problem with USB drives, USB thumb drives, or any other USB devices plugged in while sleeping - they all show up and are accessible without a problem. I use both USB3.0 and USB2.0 devices.

I tried to recreate the problem, but can't make it happen, so perhaps I don't have the exact sequence down to make it fail. Anyone else able to recreate a failure on demand?

No, I have the buggy stepping too (like most if not all of us), but don't have any issues. I recall reading somewhere it doesn't happen with all usb3 drives, but can't remember where.

Here it is: http://uk.hardware.info/news/34321/intel-officially-confirms-usb-30-bug-in-haswell-updated-with-inte...

"...This issue has only been observed with a small subset of USB SuperSpeed thumb drives and does not affect other USB peripherals..."

No need to worry, really.

Excellent!

There is a tool, USBView, that we can use to identify SuperSpeed USB 3.0 devices. It is part of the Microsoft Windows Drivers Developer Kit, and I also found an older (but new enough?) version on SoftPedia:

How to determine whether a USB 3.0 device is operating at SuperSpeed?
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/usbcoreblog/archive/2012/06/27/how-to-determine-whether-a-usb-3-0-device-is-...

Windows Driver Kit (WDK) 8.1
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg454513/

USBView 2.0.1
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/USBView.shtml

My USB 3.0 devices are only showing up as Speed: High, not Speed: Super using the USBView 2.0.1

The only WDK kit I can find now is for Windows 8.1, I guess I will wait until after I update to 8.1 before installing the WDK.

Does anyone have a newer USBView link, or can test the 2.0.1 version with a known Super Speed 3.0 device?
