Hello guys, so my question is can I upgrade my Aetheros AR9485WB Adapter to something else by myself or would I have to bring it to a shop?
Thanks in advance!

if you want to keep your warrenty then you will have to take it to an Asus service center 😞

to get to the wifi card is easy enough but you have to take a lot of screws out.
theres a great tutorial here if you do want to do it yourself

Oh so I can do it by myself? Are there like a select few models that I can use or can I use any WLAN card for notebooks? Thanks for your reply

This is the best one that is also included on some of the higher specced G750s, even the driver is available from ASUS

I bought it on Amazon it's very cheap:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008H5V9ZU/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Driver: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin8.1/WLAN/WLAN_QualcommAtheros_Win81_64_VER10371274....

It's basically from Bigfoot which were also acquired by Qualcomm recently. It is capable of 300 MBPS connectivity and low pings for best gaming experience

This looks promising. I think this looks promising, and I agree that it's quite cheap but too bad for me because I live in Singapore (Asia) and the shipping rates from there to here are too high...and I can't seem to find any other site that sells this and ships at a lower price. But thanks though, appreciate your input!

I was considering Intel as well.

The main reason I want to upgrade my card is because the one that came with my laptop does not support dual band.

I saw a video on how to dismantle the G750 and it looked scary, too many screws to remove.

How did you manage to do it? wasn't it too hard?

How guys, I am trying to locate the disassembly tutorial to upgrade the wifi card on my G750JX. I stumbled on it a year ago and left it as I wanted to go out of the warranty period which is now happened. Can someone please point me to the tutorial specifically for the wifi card upgrade? I bought the intel 7260 so I am ready to go.

G series are all the same in a way.

Remove the screws at the bottom. remove keyboard then you can remove screen you will have access to wifi + ram.

Keep screws in good place dont be afraid to take photos along the way if you in doubt.

Just not when removing keyboard to take care of the cables underneath it.

if you get afraid you will never do it then you will never learn. first time are always the hardest. you can do ittttttttttttttt

Hi,
if you are not worried about warranty and go slowly you will be ok.
i used the excellant tutorial from this forum to change mine, took about 25 mins as i changed the dvd for a hard disk at the same time.
