Overheating problems on HP Laptop. [NON-ASUS RELATED]

Hi I posted this here because help was nowhere to be found. Hope you guys can help me. So I'm stuck with my HP Pavilion until my ROG G751 JT delivers. So one main issue why I bought the ROG was because of the overheating. My HP is on a cooling pad and still overheats after 40 minutes when playing CS:GO on medium or high graphics. The vents shouldn't be clogged up. The graphics card is unfortunately dead. It's a laptop btw. Is there a solution to this or do I have to wait 1 week for my ROG to deliver? Thanks.

PS: By overheating I mean it just shutdowns and when you turn it on again it says it shut down to prevent the computer from overheating.

Looks like your laptop overheats. Download HWInfo and look for temperatures of CPU and GPU. Also set CS GO settings to low except shadows to high. Textures doesn't improve your gameplay and more fps in competetive games is a must thing. Also would be nice if you can post screenshot of hwinfo.

Enable console in cs:go options and limit fps with "fps_max 60" for example to reduce load on your gpu/cpu, set amount that is good for you. You can download msi afterburner to check temps when you are gaming so you can adjust the fps with the command to higher or lower depends on what temps are you getting.

That isn't normal, even for a 10 year old laptop. Please download HW Monitor and see what are your temps at idle and while browsing on the internet, make some screenshots with the temps and post them here. After we will see what are your idle temps, then we might know in which direction to advise you because there can be many solutions: replacing thermal paste, cleaning the laptop, fixing the fan, lowering the CPU voltage, lowering the CPU clocks, etc.
What model is your HP ?

Well first of all you said vents shouldnt be clogged, are you sure? That would be my first step, rip it apart and see if they are clogged.
Second step I would do is reapply paste.

Ofcourse make sure the fan is working.

If ya could do those 3 things to start. Also some of hps are notoriously bad in dissipating heat, I had to cut out intake hole on one of my old ones I had and modify the fan to run full speed at all times.
