Like the tittle says ive been having boot issue since installing new GPU. Blue screen within a min or 2 of boot and pc acts laggy . once I reboot all seems fine except asus fan control (although running) isn't loading the desktop icon . new GPU Is a 980 gxt ti old GPU was a 780 gtx oc . psu is a 750 watt PC and PC . ive been using for about 7-8 years . tested and all voltages seem as good as the day i got it . even with cap aging .... went a head and ordered a new psu anyways but I'm really thinking its not the psu . water cooled , 8x 120mm fans ,led's , hd's , my oc ect should not exceed the 750w (60amp on 12 rail) . what do you all thik ? driver possibly ? im using the latest driver from NVidia . old driver uninstalled , cleaned with DDU and fresh install . like I always do. never ran into this behavior before so I'm not sure where to start looking . have these errors in the event viewer every time I boot .

I'm leaning towards a driver problem but I'm not sure . . I'm running dual screens with one dvi and one hdmi . the hdmi as main (once windows loads) and its not loading my color settings and I need to open NVidia control panel and merely click apply to get it set ...

went back to 365.19 (skipping back the last 2 released) so far all seems normal so far . will see in the morning as it happed every cold boot since installing the 980 ti and new driver and I still need to apply color settings in NVidia control panel for the monitor using the hdmi cable after every boot and when monitor turns off . could this be the hdmi cable I'm using ?

anyone ?
NOPE ! error/blue screen after cold boot this morning . search shows tons of folks with this problem , most running Win 10 but not all . this is getting frustrating, not often that I cant find a solution to a problem ! this one is proving to be a head ache !
this is the error this morning - bsod driver power state failrure video tdr failure nvlddmkm

are you sure the card itself is not faulty?
does it happen too if you have only one monitor connected?
does it happen if youre removing the card and use onboard graphics?
do you have any overclock? (fclk maybe ?)
anyway, i would do a cmos reset and a clean install of windows if possible.

I can only assume card is fine as after a reboot everything works normally . this only happens on cold boots not restarts . I just tried with only one monitor . the monitor using the dvi cable . received a warning driver stopped responding but recovered . no blue screen as of yet . flck is on auto (default) OC is stable but I did load defaults anyways when I tried different driver versions and still on defaults until I get this squared away .
updating my gpu has never been this painfull !

Are you serious, your PSU is 7-8 years old?

You did the right thing by replacing it, report back after you get it installed.

yes I know ... multi meter say's voltages are fine but ... just received a new SeaSonic SS-1050XP3 we shall see . wouldn't be surprised either way though . PC Power & cooling made quality psu's but it is aged

voltages aren't everything in a PSU... Especially if you are measuring without load.

voltages were checked under load .... but like is said originally - went a head and ordered a new psu anyways..... ill have the SeaSonic SS-1050XP3 installed this wkend . I did try a few other things like , reinstall gpu drivers (again) but this time I went back to the driver I was using on my 780 gtx oc . also turned off fast boot in the bios . I'm not saying the matter is solved by no means but no blue screen so far this AM /cold boot !
