No post, Q code 66 with boot and VGA led on

Hi,

My system was running fine and all of a sudden when I went to reboot it, I got the Q code 66 with boot and VGA led on.

I tried rebooting several times, no luck.

Then I reset the cmos by holding the button beside the I/O panel for 5 seconds.

Came up fine but asked me to configure the bios, which I did.

Then it went back to q code 66 and same leds on

I was getting some luck by resetting the cmos and sometimes it would work and sometimes it would get stuck.

I am sure the VGA is fine because it was coming up after cmos resetting but now I'm stuck in an unbootable state.

I have tried reseating the RAM, using one stick on different slots, removing cmos battery, reseating the CPU etc, but the same issue.

Also tried switching the PSU cables and VGA power sockets, nothing!


My specs are below.

AMD FX 9590 CPU
Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z motherboard (latest bios)
NH-D15 CPU cooler

Corsair CMY16GX3M2A2400C11R Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2400 Mhz
GTX NVIDIA 1080 8GB DDR5 PCI-E

I have the 20 pin and 8 pin ATX connected as well as the 4 pin.

The ssd has an OS, but I don't get a splash screen or bios or anything.

PLEASE HELP!

I made got more info on the problem.

Decided to install the ROG connect on my laptop and connect a male to male USB cable to the ROG interface hoping it will shed some light.

IT DID!

This is what I see:

Any advise on fixing the CMOS error?

Do I attempt flashback for flashing the BIOS?

Tried the USB BIOS flashback as follows:

1. Download the latest BIOS file from the ASUS website

2. Extract and rename the BIOS image file to C5FZ.CAP.

3. Copy C5FZ.CAP to the root directory of the USB flash disk drive.

4. Turn off the system and insert the USB storage device to the ROG Connect port.

5. Press the ROG Connect button and release when a flashing light appears

6. BIOS light flashed for a few seconds then went to solid red

Am using a 16GB (smallest I have) USB formatted in fat32

I bought a new BIOS from ebay and replaced the old one.

Now the RC Poster shows "BIOS Setup Menu" (as shown below) but the VGA and SSD leds are still on

Thanks for responding, I tried the GPU in all the PCIe slots.

I even tried connecting it through a riser to the PCIe 1x ports
