Radeon RX 5700-series graphics cards from ROG and ASUS let Navi shine its brightest
AMD’s Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT graphics cards have proven formidable contenders since their launch, and we’ve been working behind the scenes to let the Navi GPU shine at its brightest. Beyond extracting more performance from the silicon, we've also paired those chips with quiet, capable coolers that will be right at home in no-holds-barred enthusiast PCs.
Gamers who want the most from Navi want the Radeon RX 5700 XT. Boasting 40 next-gen RDNA compute units for a total of 2560 Radeon stream processors, the highest-end Navi part so far is an ideal pairing for 2560x1440 monitors. Meanwhile, the RX 5700 and its 2304 stream processors deliver formidable performance for 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 gamers alike at a more affordable price tag. Both cards come with 8GB of GDDR6 memory running at 14Gbps to provide plenty of room for today’s high-res textures and other game data.
The blower cooler on the reference Navi cards we’ve seen so far can push waste heat directly out of a system at the cost of potentially audible noise levels. That direct-exhaust capability is useful for small-form-factor builds or off-the-shelf PCs with weak cooling, but good enthusiast cases have more than enough airflow to exhaust waste heat without relying on the graphics card cooler for help.
Our three families of custom Radeon RX 5700-series graphics cards take advantage of the favorable thermal environment of enthusiast PCs by using open coolers with lots of heatsink surface area and fans to help Navi perform at its best. The only question is how mild or wild you want your RX 5700-series card to be.
ROG Strix RX 5700-series cards establish air supremacy
We know that the most demanding enthusiasts want coolers capable of taming both the noise and heat that come from overclocking a GPU to its limits, and that’s where the ROG Strix Radeon RX 5700 XT and RX 5700 come in.
We start with a massive 2.7-slot-tall open cooler to make room for the most metal possible between circuit board and shroud. A baseplate with our MaxContact finishing technology allows for better coupling between the underlying silicon and the cooler above, maximizing thermal transfer.
We cap off that massive heatsink with three of our latest Axial-tech fans, which are designed with the smallest hubs and longest blades possible for the best performance around. We also wrap those blades with a reinforcing ring to focus airflow. Those three design choices maximize air pressure on the heatsink and enhance cooling power.
Recruits to the Republic of Gamers should leave no doubt about their allegiance, and the Strix cooler boldly announces itself to the world with aggressive style and plenty of light. Aura RGB LED lighting snakes around the trio of fans and highlights an inlaid ROG logo on the Strix’s full-coverage backplate. Should you need to run in stealth mode, a dedicated button on the back of the PCB disables the RGB LEDs in a flash.
On top of the stiffness offered by the backplate itself, we built this Strix card around a reinforced frame that sits between the PCB and heatsink to minimize unsightly sag. FanConnect II headers at the front edge of the card let you control two case fans using the graphics card’s own temperature monitoring logic for ideal cooling behavior. And a dual BIOS switch lets you choose between an aggressive fan profile to handle overclocking or a quiet mode with an idle fan-stop function for silence when the card is at rest.

TUF Gaming X3 Radeon RX 5700s can take a licking and keep on ticking
Our TUF Gaming initiative and the TUF Gaming Alliance of components make it easy to build a cohesive, durable gaming PC that delivers high performance and looks great, too. We’re recruiting Navi to the TUF Gaming army with new TUF Gaming X3 versions of the Radeon RX 5700 XT and Radeon RX 5700.
TUF Gaming X3 cards offer a trio of high-performance fans that won’t give up in the heat of battle. We built these spinners to IP5X standards so that dust can’t make its way into their bearings and reduce the lifespan of the graphics card. We also pack the sleeve bearings of these fans with a space-grade lubricant that delivers ball-bearing longevity without compromising on noise.
A 2.7-slot heatsink design means there’s plenty of metal underneath those fans to eliminate waste heat. On the TUF Gaming X3 Radeon RX 5700 XT, we use a MaxContact baseplate to move heat away from the GPU as swiftly as possible. The TUF Gaming X3 Radeon RX 5700 uses DirectCU III technology to bring the heatpipes running through the heatsink into direct contact with the GPU die for optimal thermal transfer.
We wrap those fans and fins in a shroud that will look right at home in any TUF Gaming build. Hard angles, chunky accents, and camo-inspired patterning will maintain unit cohesion with other TUF Gaming Alliance components or just stand out in any build. A small RGB LED accent on the side of the card will let you show off your unit colors without betraying opsec.
Our Auto-Extreme manufacturing technology ensures that TUF Gaming X3 cards are assembled precisely with nary a drop of stray solder, and a full-coverage backplate armors these cards against unattractive GPU sag. Whatever bumps and bruises your gaming rig may endure, TUF Gaming X3 cards are built to take it.
