Press Release: ASUS Republic of Gamers Announces Strix GTX 1070
If you're the kind of person who loves overkill, but your better half says getting the GTX 1080 could mean your demise. It's better to compromise, ROG Strix GTX 1070 will make sure everyone's happy and nobody's killed.
It would be apt to consider GTX 1070 as an alternative rather than a compromise. This is in fact an upgrade regardless of whatever you have in your system right now, this is faster than any single-GPU solution currently available.
With the overwelming interest and demand for the new ROG Strix GTX 1080, you must be wondering what differences there are in comparison. Both cards feature the same DirectCU III cooling system, premium quality Super Allow Power II components and Aura RGB light. But there are differences of course, however, don't underestimate for one second the power of this premium card. After all, this is from the same family as the GTX 1080 with the new Pascal architecture manufactured for the first time on the 16nm FinFET node.
Here are some of the key differences: GTX 1080 has 2560 CUDA cores while GTX 1070 has 1920, GTX 1080 has 8GB of the new GDDR5X memory while GTX 1070 uses GDDR5 memory, the boost clock speed (1936MHz Vs 1860MHz in OC mode), the TDP (around 30W lower thermal design power for GTX 1070), last but not least - the price.
With the ROG Strix GTX 1070 in your system, you'll be able to play a large selection of games in 4K, experience VR most likely without throwing up (dedicated HDMI port for VR included), and the tell your friends you have a GTX 1080 and get away with it.
