The ROG Strix Impact II Wireless cuts the cord on a classic gaming mouse

PCs are unique among gaming platforms for their many input options. No matter what your needs or preferences, there’s a peripheral out there to help you achieve gaming greatness. As switches and sensors evolve, the tools of the trade keep getting better. Our new ROG Strix Impact II Wireless is a perfect example.

The wired version, launched in 2019, employs an excellent 6,200 DPI sensor rated for accurate tracking at 220 inches per second. But the Impact II Wireless is truly next-level. Its 16,000 DPI sensor paves the way for more than 2.5x the wired model’s maximum sensitivity with 400 inch-per-second accuracy. That means you can move the mouse much faster than before while maintaining pinpoint precision. And if your wrist game is outrageously strong, you’ll be happy to know that the Strix Impact II Wireless keeps its focus at up to 40g of acceleration.

The combination of high performance, optimized comfort, and attractive aesthetics make the Strix Impact II Wireless a significant step up for anyone looking to get more competitive in their gaming endeavors while freeing themselves from the constraints of a cord. The Impact II Wireless can add a bit of extra RGB sparkle to an Aura Sync-capable PC, too.

The ROG Strix Impact keeps getting better

The ROG Strix Impact II we announced at Computex 2019 delivered several focused improvements over its predecessor, including a slightly larger body for an even better feel in the hand, textured plastic side grips to keep the mouse cleaner, and more customizable lighting zones. Those changes were well-received, and our Strix Impact II Wireless only adds to that winning formula.

Wireless connectivity is the most obvious addition. We use a 2.4GHz radio frequency link for ultra-low latency, excellent range, and long battery life. If you want to use the mouse while it charges, there’s always the option to connect its USB-C cable to an available port, too.

The other big upgrade is the Strix Impact II Wireless’ new optical sensor. Its combination of resolution, tracking accuracy, and stability under high acceleration puts it in the top tier of professional-grade gaming mice. Of course, you don’t have to use the mouse at 16,000 DPI. A dedicated button lets you cycle through four sensitivity settings, each corresponding to a different color that indicates the current configuration.

Just the right shape and size

We put a lot of effort into getting the ROG Strix Impact II’s shape and size just right thanks to feedback from esports pros. The Impact II Wireless maintains the same dimensions as its predecessor, and it’s still equally comfortable for left- and right-handed gamers.

Two buttons on the left side can be mapped to common hotkeys, putting a couple of extra actions within easy striking distance. If you’ve ever run out of convenient shortcuts on your keyboard, spreading the load to a capable gaming mouse makes it easier to react faster than your opponent.

Up top, the left and right keys are separated for reliable operation. Less-sophisticated mice use one piece of plastic to cut costs. You might think mouse buttons are just that simple, but nothing could be further from the truth. Each main button on the Impact II Wireless features a pivot mechanism with a spring that gently removes any slack between button and switch. If you ever wear out the included switches, or if you want to change the Impact II Wireless’ click resistance, our exclusive push-fit switch socket design supports Omron D2F and D2FC series replacements.

Make it your own

The Strix Impact II Wireless features two zones of RGB lighting—one under the logo, the other under the scroll wheel—that allow you to independently control their colors and effects. Moreover, if you add the mouse to a PC with other Aura-compatible components, you can make it part of a grander lighting scheme using our Armoury Crate software.

You’ll also find settings in Armoury Crate for adjusting the performance of the Impact II Wireless, configuring its surface calibration settings, changing button mappings, and creating profiles. This wide array of customization options means you’ll find no shortage of ways for the Impact II Wireless to raise your game.

We’ll be showing off the ROG Strix Impact II Wireless as part of our CES 2020 showcase at the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort and Casino. To schedule a tour, or to learn more about pricing and availability in your region, please contact your local ASUS representative.
