And while you will definitely be turning down a few settings to play some of the more graphically demanding games, once you get everything up and running, it really is a fun experience.

The AMD Z1 processor still manages to surprise, and for €100 less than its big sister, this ROG Ally is still a very respectable console, even on recent AAA games. Whether you want to enjoy Rocket League everywhere you go, or a good Hogwarts Legacy in bed, the ROG Ally Z1 remains an excellent choice.

In the light of this test, we can say that the console is really a great product. ASUS has succeeded in combining lightness, portability and efficiency. As soon as you switch it on, the magic happens, and once you've updated it and launched your first game, it's all good fun. Being able to play games like Diablo IV, Assassin's Creed and a whole host of others is pure bliss on this format.

ASUS succeeds in offering us a machine with a nice look and a very good grip... ASUS is ahead on many points: the screen in particular, the connectivity with the WiFi 6E or the UHS-II card reader, the Gen4 SSD for those who want to put in something really heavy, and eventually the XG Mobile port if you want to turn the Ally into a real fixed monster.

The ASUS ROG Ally console is a gadget you don't want to miss if you can afford it. The fact that it runs Windows 11, as I stated throughout the review, can be considered both a boon and a curse. You have compatibility with every Windows game and app, but all sorts of bugs keep popping up and it's hard to navigate the interface via touchscreen and console buttons. Processing power is at an all-time high, and most games run decently, but battery life isn't exactly great.
