Introducing the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080: a new frontier of gaming graphics

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series of GPUs has landed, and to usher in this new generation of graphics performance, we’re launching a new line of graphics cards. The ROG Astral series combines top-tier performance and a sleek, stellar new design, with both air-cooled and liquid-cooled variants ready to power your next PC. We’re also launching updated versions of our ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, and ROG Prime families, featuring the GeForce RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070 GPUs.

ROG Astral takes to the skies with next-level performance and design

Inspired by the limitless expanse of the cosmos, the new ROG Astral line of graphics cards explores new heights of graphics performance. As ROG’s first quad-fan graphics card, the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 and ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 take cooling to the next level with up to 20% more airflow and pressure than our last-gen three-fan design. This helps reduce hotspots for unprecedented clock speeds.

But this isn’t the only cooling improvement we’ve made. The fourth fan allows for more densely packed heatsink fins as well, increasing the overall cooling potential. In addition, the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 see the return of our patented vapor chamber design with milled pathways, allowing eight heatpipes to sink into the surface without flat edges for improved heat dissipation. And between that heatsink and the GPU, we’ve swapped traditional thermal paste for a premium phase-change thermal pad, which not only optimizes heat transfer but also the longevity of the thermal interface material.

We built the ROG Astral series for enthusiasts and overclockers, which means premium power delivery is a must. Powerful 80-amp MOSFETs allow for more than 35% more headroom than standard designs, for enhanced stability and higher overclocking potential. At the same time, a protective PCB coating helps protect against short-circuits caused by moisture or dust, which means this card is built to last.

All this is encased in an ultra-rigid metal frame, fan shroud, and backplate with a slick new design reminiscent of science fiction starships. And as our top-of-the-line card, it also supports the latest advanced features in GPU Tweak III, including a Thermal Map of your PCB, Power Detector+ to check reliability of your 12VHPWR connection, and a Mileage tracker that logs your power usage over the card’s lifespan. Combine this with two FanConnect II headers for controlling case fans and a Dual BIOS switch that lets you choose between maximum performance and quiet operation, and you have an incredible graphics card that can handle anything you throw at it.

For liquid cooling enthusiasts, we’re also offering the ROG Astral LC GeForce RTX 5090. Featuring many of the same features as is air-cooled cousin, the LC opts for a low-profile heatsink under the shroud, with a full-coverage cold plate that allows the extra-thick 360mm radiator to cool the GPU and other heat-producing components on the PCB. With 30% better thermal performance than air cooling, the ROG Astral LC GeForce RTX 5090 is the clear choice for ultimate performance under quiet operation.

ROG Strix, ASUS TUF Gaming, and ASUS Prime fill out the lineup with RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5070 GPUs

The ROG Astral series isn’t the only family of graphics cards gracing ASUS’ lineup this generation. You’ll also find cards from our other tried and true lineups as well.

Gamers looking for the best GeForce RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti graphics card should look at the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 5070 and ROG Strix GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, featuring striking designs and a host of features, including a vented exoskeleton, Aura Sync RGB, a phase-change thermal pad, protective PCB coating, a Dual BIOS switch, and high-end power delivery. The ROG Strix GeForce RTX 5070 Ti also makes use of a vapor chamber for cool and quiet thermals.

The TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5090 on a black background.

For ultra-reliable performance that suits any PC build, the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5090, TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5080, TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, and TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 are all excellent choices. Like the ROG Astral series, TUF Gaming models feature phase change thermal compound, a protective PCB coating for durability, military-grade components, plus a vapor chamber on the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5090.

The ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5080 on a black background.

Finally, our ASUS Prime graphics cards also join the party with phase change thermal compound, tri-fan cooling, and a 2.5-slot design on the Prime Geforce RTX 5080, Prime Geforce 5070 Ti, and Prime Geforce 5070 for wide compatibility at an attractive price. At the same time, the ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5080 features a vapor chamber for thermal performance you can count on.
