Once again great praise to the engineers and technicians from ASUS, who have also brought a very good gaming headset onto the market with the new ROG Theta 7.1. The headset offers a very good sound (stereo and surround sound), high-quality workmanship and excellent wearing comfort. Also the extensive software and high compatibility (suitable for PC, consoles and smart devices) is impressive.

The ear cups are more oval shaped than round. You also have the aluminium alloy frame which connects the ear cups to the headband.

In contrast to the ROG Strix Fusion I’ve tested a year ago, the Theta 7.1 oozes with build quality. Materials used are no joke, and you’d get an extra pair of pads for good measure. Comfort is not the best though which is kinda understandable considering the headset’s onboard DAC and multiple drivers

Surround sound seems to be the name of the game this year, and the ROG Theta 7.1 gaming headset features excellent 7.1 channel surround sound. This is achieved by employing four large ‘Essence’ drivers in each cup which deliver the full-spectrum, 7.1 surround sound with impressive fidelity. The Theta 7.1 also comes with a customised 7.1 DAC with support for the SupremeFX S1220A audio codec.

The ROG Theta 7.1 offers the best of sound tech at a very competitive premium segment price. What’s particularly worth the mention is the ingenuity in design. The bass boost is set to a good level and makes up for the absence of a dedicated bass channel. As a surround sound headset, it performs exceptionally well. A couple downsides I had were its overall weight and the weight of the cable itself. If surround sound is what you want, the ROG Theta 7.1 is worth considering

聲音這件事要如何呈現，各大廠商、各種產品都有不同的觀點，筆者在使用 ROG Theta 7.1 電競耳機幾天之後，在使用體驗、感受上有點轉折。一開始感覺到的是反璞歸真，在聲音呈現上少了些要刻意的修飾，聽起來覺得就很普通，但在長時間使用下，漸漸發現其實少了修飾，呈現出來更多的是自然的感覺，整體聲音表現上是舒服的，當然如果玩家想要低音重一些，或是高音多一點，還是可以透過 Armoury II 來做微調。 頭戴的部分在可靠性上，因為是從 FUSION 系列移植過來，舒適度沒什麼問題，而超大、超厚、超軟的 ROG Hybrid 耳罩在配戴上十分舒適，基本上筆者帶上一整天使用也不會覺得累。 麥克風部分就不用多說，AI Noise Cancellation 技術真的很猛，實際使用下來，環境音越複雜，越能體現 AI Noise Cancellation 技術的好，但因為要幾乎完美的做到去背景音，在主要人聲的表現一定會有所削減，這部分是好是壞就要看玩家對於收音需求以及喜好了。
