What? Threadripper CPUs are 180W TDP and can definitely be air cooled. Those Skylake-X CPUs are volcanos. And Tom's Hardware is a joke. Also I'd take TDP ratings from both CPU and cooling manufacturers with a grain of salt. AIO manufacturers especially. AMD and Intel kind of use their own definition of TDP and some cooler manufacturers do the same, even over-rating a lot of their products for marketing.

Either way, I wouldn't worry about air cooling any of the new AMD CPUs, regardless of Core Count, with an air cooling solution. Same goes with the VRM on this motherboard. Everything will be fine.

Thanks, so even a 16 core 3xxx cpu would work fine on this board on air cooling?

Updated to 4804 as well. Now I can finally use my xmp profile 3600mhz (Kingston HX436C17PB3K2/16) without any bsod. Before that I was only able to use manual settings and 3400mhz max, anything on top of that always gave me a random bsod right after windows start.

Q-Fan works better than before, the PC is quieter than ever after running "optimize all".
