The ROG Strix GL10DH packs 3rd Gen Ryzen into an affordable gaming desktop
The PC gaming community is much more diverse than when the Republic of Gamers first began over a decade ago. Everyday players with broader interests are no longer exceptions in a sea of enthusiasts, so we’ve expanded our family of purpose-built gaming machines and laptops to better cater to gamers of every creed. Last year we welcomed the ROG Strix GL10CS, a compact gaming desktop that blends performance and price to make a great experience available to everyone. Now we’re introducing a new breed dubbed the ROG Strix GL10DH that leverages the power of AMD’s 3rd generation Ryzen CPUs combined with NVIDIA GeForce GPUs.
Double Trouble
The new model may look a lot like the one that came before it, but there are a few key changes for this special strain of Strix. The Strix GL10DH continues our streak of aggressively adopting the latest processors by being the first gaming desktop to incorporate new 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen CPUs. It capitalizes on the family’s multitasking prowess by pairing up to an 8-core Ryzen 7 3800X with a special version of the ASUS Prime B450M-K motherboard.
Ryzen’s multitasking muscle is particularly great for gamers eager to perform on a bigger stage. It can handily deal with simultaneously live-streaming to an audience, recording for your highlight reel, and running separate voice communication for teammates. The processor is perfect for switching between gaming, productivity, content creation, and other applications, so the GL10DH’s top configuration comes with 32GB of DDR4 memory to ensure the system stays responsive even under heavy loads. You don’t have to worry about it slowing down while you’re trying to plow through a big project.
NVIDIA GeForce 10-series graphics cards ride shotgun and supply the pixel-pushing power to deliver smooth visuals in your favorite games. The Strix GL10DH is available with ASUS Phoenix graphics cards based on GPUs up to the GeForce RTX 2060, or an ASUS Turbo RTX 2070 if you need some extra horsepower for newer titles, higher resolutions, or faster refresh rates. Dual-ball bearing fans keep the cards running cool and quiet, and their IP5X-rated dust resistance ensures reliable operation over the long run. These GPUs are capable of pushing triple-digit frame rates in favorites like Fortnite and Overwatch. You can also enjoy smooth gameplay in AAA titles and even connect a VR headset to plunge into virtual reality.
Storage options include M.2-based NVMe SSDs up to 512GB, so there’s loads of room for the games and applications you want to load at warp speed. For larger game libraries, the system is available with 1TB of mechanical storage.
Gigabit-class networking manifests in two flavors. The Ethernet connection at the back delivers a low-latency wired connection for serious multiplayer gaming, while Intel 802.11ac Wave 2 WiFi can achieve even higher throughput over a convenient wireless link. The optional WiFi card supports 2x2 MU-MIMO and is capable of reaching greater than gigabit speeds when paired with a compatible router like the ROG Rapture GT-AC5300.
The slickest Strix
All this horsepower is packed into a compact 27-liter case that occupies less space at your battlestation. Its clean, minimalist lines lend a softer edge to the tough foundation. The flowing design is modeled after futuristic armor and reflects our obsession with speed, and we’ve taken steps to ensure this hot-rod won’t overheat. The CPU, GPU, and motherboard are isolated in the main chamber, while storage bays sit below in a separate cooling zone that also includes the power supply.
We paid special attention to the construction to maximize durability. Stamped patterns in the side panels add rigidity, and the GL10DH has passed a battery of drop and vibration tests that simulate the rough handling it may endure while traveling to a local LAN party or esports tournament. Extreme heat, cold, and humidity tests prepare the machine for a wide range of environments, and power tests ensure it can survive the voltage and frequency fluctuations that can occur on unreliable power grids.
Performance on parade with Aura Sync inside and out
An optional acrylic side panel showcases the Strix GL10DH’s glorious components, and we couldn’t resist brightening their surroundings. The internals on select models are illuminated by 20 RGB LEDs, and customizable Aura Sync lighting also cuts across the front of the chassis with a diffused glow. It only takes a few clicks to synchronize colors and effects with other compatible peripherals like the ROG Strix Flare keyboard, Gladius II mouse, and Strix Fusion headset.
Coordinating cohesive system lighting is easy with ROG Armoury Crate software, which consolidates Aura Sync, system control, and other functions in a single utility. This powerful tool includes multiple operating modes that strike different balances between performance and noise.
For a more personalized audio experience, Sonic Studio III offers manual customizations and access to five specially tuned audio modes for different game types. The software also enables clearer, more immersive audio with a host of improved functions such as virtual surround sound for stereo headphones and enhancements to recording quality. Whether you’re strategizing in-game or commentating on stream, your teammates and viewers will hear you more clearly with the software’s ability to filter out noise, reduce artifacts, and stabilize input volume.
Available soon at affordable prices
The ROG Strix GL10DH is one of the first desktops to pack 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs and presents a unique opportunity for early adopters looking to leverage the latest AMD processor for more than just gaming. Check with your local ROG representative for details about configurations, pricing, and availability in your region.
