The upgraded GameCool 7 thermal system in the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is the best yet, cooling the CPU from all directions. It uses a three-pronged approach. First, for short sessions the Boron Nitride (BN) thermal compound on one side of the CPU reduces throttling. Secondly, mid-length sessions are taken care of by the bigger Vapour chamber and graphite sheets on the other side of the CPU. Finally, for marathon sessions the AeroActive Cooler 7 — with its fan positioned right over the CPU module — kicks into play for AI-powered active cooling, featuring a Peltier element for extra cooling performance.

The new ROG Rapid-Cycle vapour chamber has specially designed conduits which quickly channel condensing water back to the center of the chamber, increasing cooling efficiency. The six liquid-return channels work as mini highway for condensed water, and the trident shape wick columns on the long edges of the chamber to improve efficiency.

This activates automatically when the AeroActive Cooler is attached, directing a constant flow of cool air from the cooler onto the cooling fins of the vapour chamber. The device has been tested for water resistance using the IEC 60529 standard and has achieved an IP54 rating. IP54 resistance protects against splashing water. Water splashed against the enclosure from any direction will have no harmful effects. (https://www.iec.ch/ip-ratings) The water repellency may deteriorate over time under normal conditions of use, or if the unit is damaged, repaired or disassembled or not observe the correct precautions. The IP54 water-repellent function of this device is only suitable for general tap water or freshwater, and not for contact with other types of water or liquids (e.g. seawater, salt water, chlorinated water and beverages). In addition, do not immerse the unit in any water or liquid, and please note that this device has a USB-C^® charging port, and the USB-C^® port must be thoroughly dried before charging. The ROG Phone 7 succeeds the ROG Phone 6 before it by improving performance, photo quality in macro mode and for selfies, and offers a brighter screen of equally good quality with definite advantages for gamers such as the refresh rate and the touch sampling rate... we can say that the ROG Phone 7 is an excellent smartphone for games that can also be enjoyable in everyday use.

With this ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, Asus does not revolutionize the models of the past year. And perhaps it's for the best, as it is difficult to find what else can be brought to this type of product refined year after year for 5 years already. The smartphone is more than powerful, has a good screen. And the gaming DNA, although still present, is becoming more and more discreet. Enough to consider it as a viable choice among the other more classic high-end models...
