ROG and Mixer form an elite partnership: introducing the newest ROG streamers

Today we’re very excited to announce a new partnership between ROG and Mixer. We’re proud to be the first PC hardware company to team up directly with Microsoft on their groundbreaking streaming platform. We’re adding six new Mixer streamers to our ROG streaming team, and you can meet five of them this week at PAX East in Boston, MA. 

Starting today and continuing through the end of PAX East, five of our new Mixer partners will be celebrating this new chapter in ROG streaming with us at Microsoft’s booth #15019. Come by to meet the latest members of our team before you get to see them doing their thing on our stream next week. Look for the “Ask a Partner” section of the booth during the following times to meet our new Mixer streamers (all times Eastern):

If you’re not in Boston this weekend, you can still be a part of the fun as VinnyB, one of our new partners, will be streaming all weekend on our Mixer channel. He’ll kick off the stream at 12PM ET today, so tune in to be a part of our newest ROG community.

After the show, we’ll regularly feature streams from our partners on our channel. We’ll also hold special takeover events with members of our stream team that you won’t find anywhere else. Be sure to follow us on Mixer to be in the know when we go live.

Who is ROG?

We are the Republic of Gamers. We were founded in 2006 with the purpose of delivering the most innovative hardcore hardware for gamers and other demanding PC users. We continue to break boundaries year after year. For just one example, we’ve been pushing the limits of portable esports performance with the introduction of 300Hz gaming laptops over the past few months. We also took the wraps off the world's first 360Hz gaming monitor at CES 2020 to give the most competitive professional gamers around a new weapon on the path to the winner's circle. 

In the years since ROG was founded, we’ve grown beyond hardware, too. We're also an active part of the global gaming community, sponsoring events such as Dreamhack and working with collegiate esports programs through Tespa. To cultivate stronger bonds with the gaming community, we’ve also partnered up with a number of Twitch streamers. Now we’re ready to bring that same excitement over to Mixer with our newest partners.

What is Mixer?

In case you’ve been living under a virtual gaming rock, Mixer is a popular streaming platform from Microsoft that’s been growing by leaps and bounds over the last few years. In fact, some of the biggest names in streaming have partnered with Mixer as their exclusive streaming platform. In the last half of 2019, viewers watched more than 60 million hours of content from 3.6 million different channels.

So what makes Mixer so appealing to both content creators and viewers? Streamers and fans alike often cite the platform's positive culture as the major reason to gather there. This is largely attributed to Mixer’s clear guidelines on harassment and their strong stance on moderation. When both viewers and streamers can have a fun time, it brings everyone closer together.

Perhaps one of the most significant technological advantages that the platform has is its Faster Than Light (FTL) streaming protocol that allows for near-instant interaction between streamers and their viewers. On other streaming platforms, there can be an extended delay between anything a viewer says, when the streamer sees it, and vice versa. In fast-paced games, a delay of even a few seconds can feel like minutes, so with Mixer, you can react to your favorite streams as quickly as your fingers allow. Mixer also allows you to easily co-stream with your friends, without requiring any specific level of partnership to get started.

Viewers earn EXP and Sparks whenever they’re watching a stream. EXP is used to progress through levels much like you would in a game, and those levels unlock new features for your account. Sparks are a type of in-stream currency. You can use your Sparks to support your favorite streamer or buy new emotes and other goodies to use in a stream. Sparks can also be used to interact directly with a streamer’s game through MixPlay.

Games that are compatible with MixPlay allow a streamer to hand over control of certain aspects or elements to their viewers in exchange for Sparks. For instance, a streamer playing Minecraft can use MixPlay to give viewers access to any in-game command that they choose. These commands can be used to spawn specific enemies, provide resources, or even change night into day. It’s a great way for viewers to become a part of the experience, while also supporting their favorite streamers.

Who are our Mixer streamers?

Since we’re partnering with six new Mixer streamers, we wanted to take a little bit of time to introduce you to each of them and give you a taste of what to expect when watching them. Check back for a full profile on each streamer in the coming months.

Driggsy

Driggsy is a skilled battle royale player that tends to play to his strengths by streaming titles such as Fortnite, but you can also find him playing Rainbow Six Siege as well as other action titles. He’s also a member of GOTeam, a charity group that uses their streaming platform to provide games and game systems to patients in the hospital.

When he’s not streaming his favorite shooter, Driggsy can be found shooting it out with his paintball team. Last year, he and his teammates were crowned the 2019 NXL Champions for the Amateur (D2) 3-man division.  

Exellion

If you need the power of positivity in your life, Exellion is a streamer to watch. His channel focuses mostly on battle royale titles like Apex Legends and Fortnite, but it’s really about the good vibes. Exellion had the honor of hosting Mixer’s very first League of Legends creator challenge tournament this year, and its success has helped propel him into a new spotlight.

Exellion’s favorite game of all time is Chrono Trigger, followed closely by Final Fantasy VI and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.

JordinLaine

JordinLaine isn’t your typical Mixer streamer. You won’t find her playing the latest shooter on her channel. In fact, what she enjoys playing the most is her keyboard. Hailing from a remote town in northern Canada, she started streaming as a way to share her music in a new way to a larger audience.

What really hooked JordinLaine on Mixer was the real connections that she’s been able to make along the way. She describes her streams as feeling more like an intimate basement jam with friends than anything else.

LuckyShots

LuckyShots loves to play shooters, just in case the name didn’t give it away. You can usually find him playing Fortnite or Escape from Tarkov with friends on stream. His impressive setup lets you watch his mouse and keyboard as he plays, so you can see every movement and shot as he makes them.

Simby

You’ll be hard-pressed to find another streamer who loves cats quite as much as Simby. In fact, she describes herself as a “professional cat lover.” You’ll often find her streaming shooters like PUBG and Fortnite, as well as cute games like Gang Beasts, and rarely without her trademark cat ears sitting atop her custom headset.

Simby has chosen Mixer as her platform of choice for the same reason as many others: the community. She loves getting to meet new people while gaming and playing with positive people. She even got to meet Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, on-stream and helped teach him how to play Fortnite.

VinnyB

VinnyB is a college student who’s been a gamer his entire life. While he can be busy between classes, homework, and sports, he still finds plenty of time to stream games like Fortnite. His interactions with the greater community are what draws him to Mixer, and he’s hoping to turn his passion into a full-time career.

When he’s not in classes, playing sports, or streaming, you can probably find VinnyB cheering on his favorite basketball team, the Chicago Bulls, or the Green Bay Packers when the NFL season rolls around.
