Unboxing The Maximus V GENE
The micro ATX Maximus V GENE will be the first of the fifth generation Maximus boards to launch. The GENE comes in the usual red ROG box which mirrors the size of the square board inside.
If you're someone who goes to the shops rather than buying online, take one off the shelf and flip the lid to see a roundup of the new features. Although, since you're now online, you can just click the pics and read them below. Opening it up, the GENE motherboard itself is the first you'll see, with the bundled goodies underneath.

Firstly the new mPCIe combo card packed in its own anti-static bag. This comes ready to fill with your mSATA SSD and mPCIe upgrades, should you want to. Each side houses a different connector and the clip on the end keeps them both neatly pressed against the PCB. We have a video online if you want to know more.

Next there's the manual, driver disc, case badge, SATA stickers to identify which cable goes in what drive and the soft Q-shield:
There are six SATA cables bundled, along with the ROG Connect USB cable for remote overclocking and the usual Q connectors for wiring up your case.
Finally there's also the ROG branded SLI connector (CrossFire ones come with AMD graphics cards) and a door hanger to keep out family and let them know why there's a rumble of tanks and gunfire coming from behind closed doors.
