ASUS Announces PCE-AC88

Snatched up a brand new ASUS RT-AC5300 or RT-AC88U recently? You probably noticed a faster and better connection straight away. But what if we told you your connection can be even faster? ASUS PCE-AC88 is the first PCIe Wi-Fi adapter card to feature a 4x4 MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output - to exploit multipath propagation) design, with NitroQAM technology the maximum transfer speed is supercharged to up to 2,167Mbps on the 5GHz band, and 1,000Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. You won't be able to unlock the full potential of your high-performance router unless you match it with a compatible Wi-Fi adapter.

To put things in perspective, a wired Gigabit LAN connection allows for a maximum transfer speed of 1,000Mbps which is the same as what you can get on the 2.4GHz band if you pair the ASUS PCE-AC88 with premium routers such as the ones mentioned previously. While on the 5GHz band, you can get up to speeds as fast or even faster than two Gigabit LAN connections combined using Link Aggregation (2,000Mbps).

One concern people may have with choosing Wi-Fi over a wired connection is the stability. The chunky heatsink helps to ensure you can keep operating at high speeds for stability. In addition, we know that with Wi-Fi, the maximum transfer speed is in direct correlation with the reception. That's why you see the four dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) antennas configured in a 4X4 (4 transmit, 4 receive) MIMO array, making sure your reception is as good as it gets.

Included is a magnetic base to help you position the antennas closer to the router or where there's less interference, so you can get the best reception possible.
