After checking out the ASUS R9 270 DirectCU II OC earlier this week and giving it an Editor's Choice award, Techpowerup took the new ASUS R9 270X DirectCU II TOP for a spin and after some more, extensive testing, awarding it also with a Highly Recommended an 8.9 overall score.

TPU were impressed with the out of the box overclock, which gave it a 2 percent performance gain over the AMD reference design as well as making it a bit faster than the HD 7950.

The DirectCU II cooler also proved itself on earlier graphics cards and the TPU team confirmed it does a great job with the ASUS R9 270X DirectCU II TOP as well.

The ASUS R9 270X DirectCU II TOP is just US $10 more expensive when compared to the reference design, which makes it a perfect choice in case you do not want to fuss with overclocking and want a R9 270X graphics card that produced much less noise than some other graphics cards on the market.
