Intel's Core i7 Haswell-E Engineering Sample Breaks Cover

A first picture of an alleged engineering sample of "Haswell-E", as well as some early details regarding the platform that should accompany it has been posted by VR-Zone.com.

Whether it's for server or consumer markets is as yet unknown, but VR-Zone claims the chip is an 8-core model based on the 22nm Haswell architecture, running at 3GHz. VR-Zone also links to 'leaked' roadmap slides showing the Haswell-E platform using DDR4-2133 and connecting to the X99 chipset, but none of these details are yet announced or confirmed by Intel and VR-Zone does not offer any further evidence about the pre-launch platform unfortunately.

We might see more details regarding the Haswell-E during upcoming trade-shows or IDF next year, but its likely still a long way off as Intel has yet to announce. Until then, X79 and new Core i7-4000 series (Ivy-Bridge-E) is the king!
