The 2025 ROG XG Mobile Leads New Era of eGPUs with Thunderbolt 5

xgmobile-2

The 2025 ROG XG Mobile is a game-changing external GPU (eGPU). It takes everything you love about the XG Mobile's convenient form factor while upping the ante with Thunderbolt 5 and next-gen NVIDIA GeForce RTX Laptop GPU options. Whether you’re a hardcore gamer or serious creator, the 2025 XG Mobile is your one-size-fits-all solution whenever you need to give your laptop or handheld maximum graphics power.

Enjoy peak versatility with the ROG XG Mobile’s Thunderbolt 5

The ROG XG Mobile can connect to more devices than ever with the power of Thunderbolt 5, turning your array of machines into gaming-ready rigs through a convenient universal connection. Just connect the XG Mobile to a device with Thunderbolt 5, Thunderbolt 4, or USB 4, and you’re set. Best of all, enjoy bandwidth of up to 80 gigabits per second when connecting via Thunderbolt 5 — which, compared to the previous XG Mobile’s 63 gigabits per second, provides plenty of headroom for the GPU to provide incredible gaming and creation performance.

But the ROG XG Mobile doesn’t just boost performance — it also expands your device’s connectivity, with dedicated HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 ports, 5G Ethernet, and plenty of USB expansion. So when you need battlestation-grade GPU power and I/O expansion, the XG Mobile has you covered. Take your ROG Ally X to even greater heights or help an older gaming laptop score a new lease on life.

Next-gen graphics on demand

Packing the power of NVIDIA’s latest GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, the ROG XG Mobile gives users the graphics processing capabilities they need to enjoy even the most taxing AAA games with all the visuals cranked up. Beyond its raw horsepower, this chip also affords the XG Mobile access to AI technologies such as NVIDIA DLSS and Frame Generation, which both serve to boost in-game framerates beyond what’s ordinarily possible.

The XG Mobile also serves creators, giving them the power of a high-end editing rig so long as their nearest machine has a compatible port. And with the XG Mobile, running heavyweight AI models locally is a cinch, so whether you’re using artificial intelligence for creative pursuits or general productivity purposes, you’ll have an effortless experience taking full advantage of the latest software and programs.

Cooler, quieter, and more convenient than ever

The 2025 ROG XG Mobile sports a redesigned thermal system to handle its massively boosted performance power. Its fan intake is strategically placed to minimize noise, and its new vapor chamber cooling enhances thermal performance with more mainboard coverage. The 2025 XG Mobile even has an integrated dust filter to keep gunk from building up inside, ensuring optimal device health over the long term.

Even with its enhanced performance capabilities, we still built the 2025 XG Mobile to be extremely portable, roughly the size of a hardcover novel. So unlike many other desktop eGPUs, you can bring it with you anywhere. This engineering feat wasn’t easy and required an overhauled mainboard to keep size down. The new design sports active bridge rectifier MOSFETs rather than diodes, allowing us to reduce the XG Mobile's bulk and weight while maintaining its 330W power profile. The new MOSFETs also help reduce voltage drop so you see rock-solid performance in the most high-current applications.

A new transparent casing lets you peek at the eGPU’s high-performance internals, while an RGB logo gives your XG Mobile a dash of Aura Sync-compatible flair. The eGPU even comes with a stand, right in the package, so you can orient your XG Mobile whichever way is most convenient for your workspace.
