ROG Strix GA35 and GT35 gaming desktops go all out on performance
A premium gaming experience goes far beyond frames per second. Gamers increasingly need machines that sustain smooth gameplay under serious pressure, and give them the flexibility to do everything from producing top-quality streams to developing the next great indie title. Debuting at CES 2020, the ROG Strix GA35 and Strix GT35 are exhilaratingly powerful gaming desktops with tournament-level performance and the versatility to do much more.
GPU power remains crucial for maintaining an edge in competitive multiplayer games and rendering hyper-realistic visual effects that draw you deeper into AAA masterpieces, so the new Strix desktops feature up to an ROG Strix GeForce RTX™ 2080 Ti graphics card. For demanding workloads like content creation and heavy duty multitasking, the GA35 boasts up to a 16-core AMD® Ryzen™ 9 3950X CPU, while the upcoming GT35 will feature 10th Generation Intel® Core™ processors.
The graphics card’s massive triple-fan cooler stands tall in an optional vertical mount, while a 240-mm radiator chills the CPU with liquid cooling. They’re part of a comprehensive cooling system that includes a multi-zone chassis optimized for airflow. The all-new case is simple to open and upgrade, giving gamers and enthusiasts the freedom to build upon their investment. Even right out of the box, it’s easy to make these powerful desktops your own with deep personalization features like Aura Sync lighting, Keystone II technology, and Scenario Profiles.
Ready to rumble
Graphics are at the heart of the gaming experience. You can’t amp up the eye candy in the impeccably detailed worlds of modern blockbusters without a truly high-end graphics card, especially at 4K resolution. Competitive esports players also need to saturate ultra-high-refresh displays that allow them to see and respond to every action, every cooldown, and every enemy movement within milliseconds. Armed with up to an ROG Strix GeForce RTX™ 2080 Ti graphics card, the GA35 and GT35 are ready for any gaming scenario. The GPU in this top-of-the-line card is based on NVIDIA’s latest Turing architecture, which mixes CUDA cores for traditional rasterization with RT cores for ray tracing, and Tensor cores for accelerated AI, including noise removal. When paired with compatible games like Battlefield V and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, this combination enables faster antialiasing and higher-quality lighting, shadows, and reflections.
ROG Strix takes the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti’s graphics prowess to the next level with a huge 2.7-slot heatsink capped by three Axial-tech fans that help the card maintain high clocks in the heat of battle. In internal tests, the Strix GA35 pushed Overwatch up to 188 FPS at 4K with Epic details, making even the most action-packed encounters smooth as silk. The gorgeous landscapes of Shadow of the Tomb Raider rendered beautifully at a smooth 73 FPS in rich 4K Ultra detail.
Let the games begin
Competition-ready performance comes with convenient features that make the Strix GA35 and Strix GT35 ideal tournament machines. At esports competitions, games and player profiles are typically stored on 2.5-inch SSDs. Organizers need an easy way to load that data onto different systems, which is why we hide two hot-swap drive bays behind a spring-loaded door on the front of the chassis. These bays let players quickly add and remove SSDs without having to open the case or break out any tools. They also make storage upgrades a snap. The chassis elegantly integrates a carrying handle strong enough to bear sustained force of up to 30kgf. You can bring these desktops to competitions, LANs, or anywhere else you want to game. The slick hidden headphone hook helps keep tournament setups and battlestations clean and clutter-free; it’s tested to hold headsets up to 3kg, and can survive momentary force up to 10kgf.
Serious 16-core power
Powerhouse CPUs equip these gaming desktops for much more. The GT35 will feature the next generation of Intel Core processors, while the GA35 offers 3rd Generation AMD® Ryzen™ processors up to the Ryzen 9 3950X CPU.
Cutting-edge 7nm technology lets the 3950X double the number of cores of the previous generation. With 16 cores and 32 threads, this beast of a CPU can do everything you want, all at once. The additional cores make the system more responsive under strenuous loads, and they’re particularly useful for accelerating heavily multithreaded work like video encoding and 3D rendering.
Pristine power and capable cooling help the Ryzen 9 processor sustain high clocks. The CPU sits in an ROG Strix X570-F Gaming motherboard with a fine-tuned VRM that delivers clean and reliable current. Substantial heatsinks keep the VRM cool, while closed-loop liquid cooling channels heat from the CPU to a dual-fan radiator that exhausts out the top of the chassis. The processor is unlocked for overclocking, so you can push for even higher performance on your own.
With up to 64GB of high-performance DDR4-3200 memory, the GA35 is primed for serious multitasking. Pairing that much memory with such a powerful processor enables reliably smooth gameplay while simultaneously live-streaming, recording, and juggling a mix of chats and browser tabs. You can also take back time spent waiting for games, apps, and large files to load. A superfast NVMe SSD with up to 1TB of capacity offers plenty of space for your game library and professional portfolio, and select models further accelerate throughput using the latest PCI Express® 4.0 interface.
Harnessing cool
High-end components need thermal headroom to reach their full potential, which is why the new ROG Strix gaming desktops combine robust component cooling with a chassis optimized for superior airflow. The Wind Shear design features rakish slashes that cleverly incorporate widened air vents into an assassin-inspired aesthetic. Three internal chambers divide the CPU, graphics card, and power supply into separate zones to minimize thermal interference between the hottest components. The cooling is so efficient that the Strix GA35 generated noise levels under 35 dB in an internal gaming test with Metro Exodus.
Even the internal storage has dedicated cooling to ensure more reliable performance. The motherboard’s dual M.2 SSD slots feature heatsinks that can improve sustained throughput and long-term reliability. For even more strenuous storage loads, the Strix X570-F Gaming motherboard also has a header for an M.2 fan that enables direct airflow through active cooling.
Upgrade excellence
While the latest ROG Strix desktops are ready to go straight out of the box, extensive upgrade options mean you can make them even better over time. The GA35’s CPU and motherboard both support the latest PCI Express 4.0 standard, which offers next-gen devices double the bandwidth of PCIe 3.0. Two PCIe x16 slots are connected directly to the CPU and support multi-GPU configurations, so you can double your potential graphics power by adding a second card. Doubling up on GPUs can give frame rates a big boost and also speed up demanding tasks like 3D rendering.
External hot-swap bays make storage upgrades super easy, but you don’t have to stop there. One of the motherboard’s dual M.2 slots is available for a second SSD. The chassis also has room for two 3.5-inch HDDs that can exponentially increase your total storage capacity. Depending on how you upgrade, you can balance speed and storage for a truly mammoth collection of games, applications, media, and more.
Self-expression made easy
Upgrading isn’t the only way to make these machines distinctly yours. The Strix GA35 is the first system with our new Keystone II technology. Introduced with the ROG Strix III and Hero III gaming laptops introduced in Spring 2019, the Keystone is an NFC-enabled key that puts preferences and other functions in the palm of your hand. When docked with a compatible PC, it provides easy access to settings linked with your ROG ID, so you can quickly make a new system feel like home.
In addition to letting you access profile settings stored in the cloud, the Keystone II can be configured to switch the system to a specific operating mode, launch an individual game or application, or unlock a secret Shadow Drive for stashing files away from prying eyes. Windows 10 Pro users can even encrypt their Shadow Drive for greater security.
Represent your personal style with customizable RGB lighting inside and out. Aura Sync lets you coordinate colors and effects across an entire ecosystem of compatible components, including the ROG Strix X570-F motherboard and Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics card. The internal lighting beautifully showcases the components through the transparent side panel. Aura Sync isn’t just for show, either; it can be harnessed by games to heighten immersion by changing color in response to specific events and environments.
ROG Armoury Crate software offers tons of tuning options for lighting, Keystones, and other system settings. You can also use the system utility to create Scenario Profiles that automatically load personal preferences when you launch specific games and applications. Scenario Profiles detect the active application and adjust system performance, cooling, lighting, and other settings to ensure an ideal configuration for the task at hand.
Gear up and go
A wide range of inputs and outputs further expand the flexibility of the Strix GA35 and GT35. Although most of your peripherals will connect around the back, front-panel ports provide more convenient access for select devices. Gold-plated audio jacks sit within easy reach for players who need to plug in quickly at esports events. Dual USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports provide fast access to speedy external storage, while dual USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports are ready for more conventional devices.
Around back, you’ll find six more USB ports in different flavors, including one more USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C. All told, there’s ample capacity for all your USB gear, from gaming peripherals to drawing tablets to VR trackers.
Plugging into virtual reality is easy thanks to dual HDMI 2.0b ports on the graphics card that allow you to run a VR headset alongside a 4K monitor or TV. On models with GeForce graphics cards, DisplayPort 1.4 outputs offer connectivity for NVIDIA G-SYNC™ gaming monitors that make gameplay even smoother and more immersive. You can also hook up additional displays purely for productivity, or to keep track of chats, email, and other activities while gaming on your main monitor.
Get online and in-game easily with options for both wired and wireless networking. Intel® I211-AT Gigabit Ethernet offers a lower latency connections for multiplayer gaming, while Wi-Fi 5 provides fast wireless access for everyday streaming and web browsing. The Wi-Fi card also integrates Bluetooth 5 to cut the cord for compatible peripherals and other devices.
