Computex 2015: 27-inch ASUS MG278Q and MG279Q Gaming Monitors
Here's what FreeSync fans have been waiting for! At Computex 2015 in Taiwan, ASUS has introduced two new AMD FreeSync 27" WQHD (2560 x 1440) gaming monitors with 144Hz refresh rate and super-low response time, never again will you witness ghosting or motion blur. MG278Q has 144Hz refresh rate and ultra fast 1ms response time, while MG279Q features the first ever IPS panel with WQHD resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and 4ms response time.

MG278Q
MG278Q offers an abundance of excellent features which make it an attractive choice over other similar options on the market. The MG278Q features an ultra-fast 1ms TN-panel with excellent viewing angles (170º vertical and 160º horizontal). The detail and vibrant colors along with 1440P support on this monitor will surely surprise you. The MG278Q is a certified ASUS Eye Care Monitor, offering Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free technology which means you can bash on the keys and talk about yourself in the third-person longer without eye strain. All the ports you will need are here including: a USB 3.0 hub with 2 ports, DisplayPort 1.2 port, HDMI 2.0 port, HDMI 1.4 port, DVI port, and you can choose to use the headphone jack or the built-in stereo speakers.

MG279Q
At the time of the announcement, the MG279Q stood alone as the first and only 27" WQHD IPS monitor with 1440P support. The MG279Q was created to be a fantastic gaming monitor that would allow gamers to play for extended periods of time and would not cause stress to their eyes. ASUS Ultra-Low Blue Light technology helps reduce harmful blue light emissions by 70%. There are 4 preset blue light filter settings available for your choosing through the onscreen display (OSD) menu. Another helpful feature that helps prolong the gaming experience is the ASUS Flicker-Free technology, ensuring that there are absolutely no sudden flickering in-game that may cause damage to the eyes, this is also a blessing in disguise for gamers who suffer from epilepsy. MG279Q has ultra-wide 178º viewing angle, accompanied by 350 cd/m2 brightness, 100,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio, 1000:1 native contrast ratio for rich visuals, while having super-fast 4ms response time. For ports MG279Q has a USB hub with 2 ports, DisplayPort 1.2 port, Mini DisplayPort 1.2, two HDMI 1.4/MHL 2.0 ports so you can hook this up your phone or tablet, a headphone jack and built-in stereo speakers.

ASUS GamePlus and GameVisual Enhancements
Both the MG278Q and MG279Q come with the GamePlus and GameVisual enhancements, each feature proves to be vital in order to get the maximum potential out of the game and the monitor. The GamePlus hotkey enhancement offers the user with different crosshair overlays and timer functions, and in total there are four different crosshair overlays to choose from. The timer function can be useful in a lot of games, especially with strategy games where timing for building anything is important. The onscreen timer can be activated anywhere along the left side edge of the screen to help keep track of time while in-game. The GameVisual enhancement offers a variety of different optimized display modes for different genres of games which the user can choose from, in total there are six modes: Scenery, Racing, Cinema, RTS/RPG, FPS and sRGB.

Ergonomic Stand and Cable Management
MG278Q comes with an adjustable ergonomic stand that can be tilted, rotated on a swivel to the correct angle, and adjusted to the correct height. MG279Q has a new feature that is quite handy to have, and that is the quick-release hatch that is used when mounting the monitor to a VESA wall-mount, allowing for quick removal or reattachment of the monitor to the mount. The Smart Cable Management Clip is a red clip located on the back part of the stand which could be mistaken for decoration, but in actual fact it helps manage the cables, keeping your desk clutter-free.
