CES 2015: Latest ASUS 802.11ac Networking: EA-AC87, RT-AC3200 And RT-AC87U
As gamers we need the best net connections possible, and while we prefer the super-reliability and ubiquity of (Intel) Gigabit Ethernet in our ROG motherboards and ASUS RT routers, sometimes running a wire is not always possible. For those times, 802.11ac WiFi gives the best speeds and reliability over wireless, but not every device ships with this spec, so the new EA-AC87 AP can convert a Gigabit Ethernet connection from your gaming PC or even Xbox One, PS4 or NAS/HTPC (all together - there are four Ethernet ports) into 802.11ac wireless that then connects to your main 802.11ac router.
Other complementary ASUS RT routers include the six antenna (3x3) RT-AC3200 tri-band 802.11ac router with Smart Connect feature. Smart Connect ensures that all connected devices do not hinder each other; and allows them to operate at their maximum speeds by automatically assigning them to either of the two 5GHz or one 2.4GHz bands based on their speed, distance from the router, and each band's load. RT-AC3200 delivers a combined data rate of 3200Mbit/s and is capable of handling smooth 4K/UHD video streaming, ultra-fast large file transfers and low-latency online gaming without slow-downs.
RT-AC3200 features AiProtection, with exclusive Trend Micro software, to protect home networks from cyber threats by monitoring the network in real-time, detecting malicious sites, malware, and other intrusions for total network security. From its OS it provides robust parental controls and privacy protection.
Meanwhile the ASUS RT-AC87U is a dual-band router with a combined data rate of 2334Mbit/s for smooth 4K/UHD video streaming, ultra-fast large file transfers and low-latency online gaming. With a data rate of up to 1700Mbit/s on the 5GHz band, it has the world’s first 4x4 MIMO antenna design with AiRadar universal beamforming for superb multi-device performance and widespread wireless signal coverage of up to 465m2 (approximately 5,000ft2). Like the RT-AC3200, it also features AiProtection.
All three products are on show at the ASUS area in CES 2015 and for more details hit the press release button below.
