Powerful hardware requires a supremely efficient cooling system to keep internal temperatures healthy, and we’ve made sure our latest Strix machines are up to the task. For our Intel-based models, we utilize a brand-new sandwiched heatsink design that puts heatsink fins along the top and bottom of the custom vapor chamber inside, allowing the laptops to go up to 240W of power and run quieter than previous-gen laptops. The full-length rear heatsink keeps exhaust exclusively at the back of your machine, meaning your typing hands stay cool, safe from hot air. Combine this smart design with ROG’s Arc Flow Fans, and you’re getting a cooling system that maximizes performance, efficiency, and comfort.
Our AMD-based Strix laptops feature seven heat pipes, full-surround vents behind a full-width heatsink, and a Tri-Fan thermal design so that components stay cool under pressure no matter what game you’re playing.

New ROG Nebula Displays up the visual ante
You need an incredible display to witness the benefits of truly powerful hardware. That’s why all 2025 Strix laptops feature ROG Nebula and, in the case of the Strix SCAR, Nebula HDR Displays.
These 2.5K displays sport a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, and 100% DCPI-P3 coverage, for fast, fluid visuals that pop with vibrant colors. When you’re in a multiplayer match and need to see enemies hiding in shadows or want peak visual intensity for stunning AAA experiences, our ROG Nebula Displays will deliver. And the SCAR models with Mini LED-equipped displays are now capable of 1200 nits of peak brightness for even more incredible HDR content.
But it wouldn’t be a new year if we didn’t find some way to improve these displays even further. Our 2025 Strix laptops sport a new dual-layer ACR (Ambient Contrast Ratio) film on the display. The first layer reduces reflections, which in turn enhances contrast for richer viewing experiences that really pop, even if you’re in a room with some ambient light. The second layer improves the display’s viewing angle, so even if you’re looking at the display off-center, blacks still look deep, and the image stays punchy. Whether you’re plugging in an extra controller for local co-op on your laptop or inviting a friend to watch you pull off an incredible in-game feat, you’ll have a screen that looks great from all angles.
A slick new design built for speed
For 2025’s Intel-based Strix laptops, we’ve redesigned the chassis to convey a sense of speed and calculated precision, inspired by racecars that embody the same concepts. The ROG Strix SCAR and ROG Strix G laptops with Intel processors sport rounded edges on the chassis, with smaller seams for a truly sleek aesthetic. We managed to shrink the gap between the lid and hinge down to 2mm from last-gen’s 7.9mm, giving these powerhouse laptops a whole new look. Pair that with the world-first full-surround RGB lightbar, and you have yourself a high-tech laptop that makes a flashy statement no matter where you game.
Want even more flair? Our celebrated AniMe Vision display finally makes its way to the Strix SCAR 16 and Strix SCAR 18, giving you an array of 810 LEDs that lets the lid sparkle with whatever animations fit your personality best. Or disable the lights and for a stealthier look, with a black chromium surface under the light-up ROG logo. It’s stylish when you need it to be, and subdued when you don’t.
A new era for gaming laptop upgradeability and futureproofing
All of our 2025 ROG Strix laptops champion upgradability with upgradeable RAM and dual PCIe SSD slots, one of which fully supports PCIe Gen 5 drives for lightning-fast storage speeds. Whether you need more RAM for multitasking or storage to fit your game library, these Strix machines make the upgrade process easy.
The Intel-based Strix SCAR 16, Strix SCAR 18, Strix G16, and Strix G18 take it a step further. These newly redesigned machines mark the arrival of true tool-less upgradeability in the gaming laptop space. Skip the screwdriver and slide a single lever to remove your new Strix laptop’s bottom panel, giving you easy access to the SSD and RAM slots. We’ve put visual cues and protective cutouts on the panel, too, so it’s crystal clear what you’re looking at inside your laptop. Even the SSD mount is tool-less, now featuring our Q-Latch system made famous by our ROG motherboards. No matter how inexperienced you are, you can feel safe upgrading the capabilities of your laptop — and experienced users can access their machine’s most sensitive internals with a few turns of a screwdriver.
