ASUS Announces RT-AC5300
It would be mighty bold to declare the ASUS RT-AC5300 router as the fastest, smoothest for online gaming, and unrivaled in terms of multi-device performance and coverage. Yes, bold statements indeed. However, let's first look at the technologies involved to make it possible, and why you need one. Alternatively, you could just take our word for it and go overkill anyway just because you can, you want the best, or simply because you're way overdue for a router upgrade so you need one pronto. Alright, no need to be overzealous. At least take a look a few key points before running off to get one.
Many homes now consist of a couple of PCs, laptops, tablets, phones, TVs, set-top boxes and consoles, that's already at least ten reasons why you need a really good router, to make sure everyone can get fast access from every part of the house - at the same time. RT-AC5300 isn't just fast; it claims the title of being the fastest, by using Broadcom NitroQAM technology to boost maximum Wi-Fi speeds on two 5GHz and one 2.4GHz frequency band (tri-band) by up to 25% (each 5GHz speeds from 1734Mbit/s to 2167Mbit/s, and 2.4GHz speeds from 800Mbit/s to 1000Mbit/s). Tri-band (two 5GHz, one 2.4GHz) design for unrivaled multi-device performance with intelligent auto-switching between bands - check.
This gives RT-AC5300 a combined total data speed of up to a world-leading throughput of 5334Mbit/s (five times the bandwidth of a wired Gigabit ethernet connection)! Fastest wireless router for 4K streaming, gaming and file-sharing - check.
This 802.11ac wireless router has eight detachable dual-band antennas, configured in a 4×4 (four-transmit, four-receive) MIMO array. Exclusive ASUS AiRadar uses universal beamforming technology to focus the wireless signal towards devices for faster connections with greater stability and range. Incredible coverage - check.
Just when you thought it couldn't possibly get any better, ASUS RT-AC5300 is the world’s first router with a built-in gaming accelerator powered by the Gamers Private Network (GPN) from WTFast for the ultimate low-ping gaming experience. GPN can reduce average game ping times by 30-60%, lower average speed deviations by 70-90%, and cut bad router hops by 70-90%, virtually all competitive multi-player online games are supported. The gaming accelerator is integrated into the ASUSWRT graphical user interface (GUI) so it requires no system resources on your gaming devices, regardless of manufacturer or operating system (OS). Traditionally, you only had control over the speed of your personal network, this is all about to change. Best for online gaming performance - check.
There are 4 Gigabit LAN ports, a USB 3 and a USB 2 port. There’s support for 802.3ad Link Aggregation, which allows two Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports to be combined into a super-fast 2Gbit/s wired connection for professional-grade network switches or network-attached storage (NAS).
