ROG returns to PAX West 2018 with new gear, an expanded apparel line, and cool swag

Summer is drawing to a close, which means it’s almost time for PAX West. Gamers will descend upon the Washington State Convention Center from August 31st through September 3rd to witness the best games and gear the industry has to offer, and the ROG team is pulling up to the show with a bunch of tech goodies you won’t want to miss. Come visit us and say hi at Booth #2121. We’re easy to find, standing tall on the show floor and clad in our customary ROG red and black. While you’re there, you can be among the first to see a wide range of new and cutting-edge products, win ROG swag, and play some games. You may even catch sight of some products that have not even been announced yet!

Gear Galore

It wouldn't be PAX without some brand new gear, so we're bringing our yet-to-be-released ROG Phone, a smartphone built for gaming from the inside out, which was a big hit at Computex this summer. Complete with a 90Hz display, a binned Snapdragon 845 SoC from Qualcomm, and a unique design that allows for better control and more efficient cooling, the ROG Phone is the bleeding edge of mobile gaming. It also isn’t out yet, so this is your chance to get an early look.

If you prefer a more conventional mobile gaming experience, you can lose yourself in our slim-bezel gaming laptops, the ROG Strix Scar II and Hero II. These pack GeForce 10-series graphics and original designs inspired by FPS and MOBA games for competitive gaming on the go. Each is equipped with a super-fast display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time.

We'll also have the newest addition to our Zephyrus family of ultra-slim gaming laptops. The Zephyrus S GX531 will make its North American debut at PAX West, and it's definitely a showstopper. It packs an 8th Generation six core Intel Core i7 CPU and up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with Max Q graphics inside a chassis that's just 15.75mm thick. These powerful components are kept in check by our innovative AAS cooling that opens up a vent in the back of the laptop to increase ventilation. We collaborated with AUO on the 15.6" display and were able to get a 144Hz/3ms panel that enables buttery smooth performance in fast-paced games. Super narrow bezels make the experience more immersive and the laptop itself even more portable. The GX531 was just announced and isn't in stores yet, so don't miss your chance to see it at the booth.

The booth will feature a small fleet of fully built desktop rigs, as well. We'll have builds from partners like Origin PC and Exotic along with some of the best ROG systems available, and our brand new Ryujin all-in-one liquid cooler. The Ryujin features addressable LEDs with Aura Sync support, a customizable LiveDash OLED screen, and aesthetics designed to match our recent motherboard.

The sexy Huracan G21 leads the pack for complete ROG systems. This unique, compact desktop is small enough for tight spaces and features an ingenious foldable panel that increases ventilation. The impressive ROG Strix GL12 will also be flexing its considerable esports muscle. Based on a six-core Intel Coffee Lake processor paired with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics, and sporting a nifty hot swap SSD bay, it has an insatiable appetite for esports and also burns through all kinds of games at blazing speeds. If you’re looking for more, then our mighty ROG GT51 desktop is a must-see. It’s powered by a factory-overclocked Intel Core i7-7700K processor and a VR-ready GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card, with plenty of room to insert a second card. The added power makes this rig perfect for the ROG Swift PG27UQ 4K gaming monitor, which just went on sale this summer and features a 144Hz refresh rate and support for vibrant HDR content.

Winning style

As fun as it is to test drive new hardware, we know the true ROG loyalist cannot survive off demos alone, so we’re adding an official ROG Gear Store to our booth this year. The ROG Gear Store will be filled with all sorts of gear and peripherals, including the customizable ROG Strix Flare keyboard, our LED-adorned ROG Strix Fusion 300 headset, and ROG Gladius II Origin gaming mouse with swappable switches. You can also literally wear your ROG pride on your sleeve with our expanded apparel line. With fresh items just for PAX West, we'll have T-shirts, windbreakers, pullovers and hats available to buy at the show.

Throughout the booth we’ll also have various fun activities for you to complete, and checking them all off your list will earn you a chance to win cool ROG swag in our daily draws. If you’re more into gaming than gear, you can take a break and play a few rounds of PUBG and Fortnite with us, and CS:GO fans will be glad to hear Join the Republic is making a triumphant return. This community challenge lets everyday gamers battle for the opportunity to go pro and compete in our JTR esports competition. If you have what it takes, you may find yourself head-to-head against some the very best in the business.
